How to Give Up Any Bad Habit

How to give up any bad Habit within a week

In this short segment, Sheikh Kamal El-Mekki gives a short and simple solution that can assist you in giving up any harmful addiction. He calls it the “Two Rakaat Solution” and it is bound to help you in any fight against Satan.

The excerpt is included below detailing the story of a young man who had difficulty in lowering his gaze and how the “Two Rakaat Solution” assisted him.

He says, “Sheikh help me, I look at women too much”.

The Sheikh said, “It’s really simple. But you have to commit to this.”
Every time you look at a woman. And I don’t mean accidental look or you know a business-dealing look where there’s no desire involved. But like look, look.

He says every time you look at a woman pray two Rakaat. Anytime of the day you look at a woman, the way that’s improper, go pray two Rakaat.

So what’s happening now? What’s the formula? Why does it work?

What is a bigger deal for Iblees (Satan)?

Does Iblees (Satan) love that you look at a woman, more so than he hates that you pray two Rakaat to Allah?

He hates that you pray two Rakaat to Allah more than his love that you disobey (Allah) by looking at a woman.

So he says every time you look at a woman pray two Rakaat.

The guy says “I’m a receptionist, there’s a lot of woman”.

He says “Just pray two Rakaat”.
The guy says the first day I prayed like five times, ten Rakaat

The next day I prayed eight Rakaat.

After that six Rakaat.

Then four.

Then two.

Then he says after that, before I even look, if I hear a woman coming, like I hear her voice she’s on the phone, or I hear her high heels knock, knock, knock. The Shaitan will tell me “Don’t look! If you look you have to pray two Rakaat. Just don’t look!”

And he called the Sheikh, said “Sheikh I don’t look at all now”.

So the Sheikh then wrote about the “Two Rakaat” solution in his book.
Then a young man read the book and he called me.

He said “Sheikh I read about your “Two Rakaat” solution and I used to miss Fajr and it would make me so angry to miss Fajr.

He said one day, at night I sat up in my bed just alone. There’s no body in my room just like a mad man I sat up in my bed.

And I said out loud, “By Allah, if I miss Fajr tomorrow, I will pray 100 Rakaat”.

Meaning, he will pray 50 times extra Salaah.

He said Fajr came, no alarm clock, nothing.

Iblees said, “Get up quickly, it’s Fajr time!”

Six of the Most Popular Misconceptions about Islam

Muslims today play the role of fire fighters clearing any misconceptions about Islam like a fire fighter would to flames. Islam is no doubt one of the most misunderstood religions on the face of this planet today. A simple stroll through one’s newsfeed is bound to be filled with people speaking either for or against Islam and in most instances such discussions are fueled with misunderstandings and misconceptions about Islam. We’ve compiled a list of the most frequent misconceptions we’ve come across throughout our travels on social media. We’ve also broken them down to shed light on the reality of such views.

1. Islam is only for Arabs

Islam was sent as a religion for the entirety of humanity. It strongly advocates against racial discrimination and is open to all people.

2. Islam is oppressive to women

Islam elevates the status of women, granting them rights to inherit, divorce, education and much more. God also promises women immense reward for their roles as mothers, wives and daughters.

3. Jihad means violent war

Linguistically Jihad translates to struggle. It can extend towards any struggle of good against evil. Nevertheless, although Jihad does indeed encompass fighting, it has many stringent conditions to ensure it is done morally.

4. Muslims worship Muhammad

Muslims only worship God alone, without any partners. Muslims don’t associate any godliness to any of the Prophets, they were but men chosen by God to lead people towards righteousness.

5. Islam is a new religion

Muslims believe in all Prophets including Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad. Muslims believe all the Prophets were Muslim and worshiped the same God alone without any partners.

6. Muslims hate non-Muslims

The Quran implores Muslims to show kindness to all those that do not fight them or expel them from their homes. This no doubt encompasses the vast majority of Non-Muslims living alongside Muslims in peace today.

The Quran even urges Muslims to respond with “Peace” to those that are ignorant and offensive.

These misconceptions about Islam are abundant and infectious that take the form of any rumor that travels around between friends and family. So treat these misconceptions about Islam like any rumor and read more into them.

Four Things Muslims can do to support Al Aqsa

  1.  Making Sincere Dua

Never Underestimate the power of weeping and supplicating to Allah! Pray for the safety of people of Plaestine and for the ability to go there one day. Use Allah’s names i.e.

‘Ar-Rahman’ The All-Compassionate

‘Al-Mu’iz’  The Bestower of Honors

‘Al-’Adl’ (العدل)  The Just

‘Al-Mujib’ (المجيب)  The Responder to Prayer

  1.  Teach yourself and your family the importance of Palestine.

We should keep reminding ourselves and teaching our children the importance of the sacred grounds of Palestine. The land of Al-Sham, and Palestine in particular, have special significance in the stories of all our Prophets.

Learn their stories and your love for Palestine will grow.

  1.  Raise Awareness about the oppression and the significance of Palestine, in as many ways as possible.

But remember …. Sincerity is key! While sharing live feeds from Palestine and being active online to spread awareness is vital to the Palestinian cause, and it surely reignites our sense of Ummah, one should always keep the balance by maintaining their level of worship and private duaa for our brothers and sisters everywhere.

  1.  Your deeds affect the rest of the Ummah

“Surely Allah does not change the condition of  a people until they change what is in their hearts.” Qur’an 13:11

Don’t forget the rest of the Ummah in your prayers!

Christians in Jerusalem are standing to protect Masjid Al Aqsa

Christians in Jerusalem are standing to protect Masjid Al Aqsa

The leaders of all major Christian denominations in Jerusalem have released a joint statement condemning the Israeli government restrictions on Muslims entering Masjid al-Aqsa. In it, they called for a return to and maintenance of the historical “Status Quo”, in which the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is the custodian governing the al-Aqsa compound.
It comes amid growing tensions between Muslims protesters who continue to face restrictions on entering the mosque. With a rising death toll and collapsed negotiations, the conflict has no clear resolution in sight.

Why are Muslims so worried about Al Aqsa?

Why is Masjid Al Aqsa in Jerusalem so important to Muslims?

Masjid Al Aqsa in Jerusalem is the third Holiest site on the face of this planet for Muslims. It’s sanctity is so important in Islam that it is in fact mentioned by name in the Quran.

We have compiled a short list as to what makes this site so important for Muslims around the world.

  1. It is the third Holiest site after the two Holy Sanctuaries in Makkah and Madinah.

2. It was the second house of prayer established on earth, built 40 years after the Kaaba in Mecca.

I asked the beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) which was the first mosque on earth? ‘The Sacred Mosque (in Makkah),’ he said. And then which, I asked? ‘Masjid al Aqsa,’ he said. I further asked, what was the time span between the two? ‘Forty years,’ the Prophet [Alayhis salaam] replied. (Muslim)

3. It was the first Qibla (direction of prayer) in Islam. Muslims were commanded by God to turn in direction to this mosque in Jerusalem for prayer before the Kaabah in Mecca was declared as the Qiblah.

We have certainly seen the turning of your face, [O Muhammad], toward the heaven, and We will surely turn you to a qiblah with which you will be pleased. So turn your face toward al-Masjid al-Haram. And wherever you [believers] are, turn your faces toward it [in prayer]. Indeed, those who have been given the Scripture well know that it is the truth from their Lord. And Allah is not unaware of what they do. (2:144)

4. The Prophet Muhammad explicitly advised Muslims to visit this mosque and offer prayer in it.

“Set out deliberately on a journey only to three mosques: this mosque of mine (in Medina), the Sacred Mosque (in Makkah) and the Masjid Al Aqsa (in Jerusalem)”

(Bukhari & Muslim)

5. Prayer in Masjid Al Aqsa will generate great blessings and worshippers will receive 500x the reward of prayer performed in any other location.

Anas Ibn Malik (ra) relates that the Prophet (pbuh) said:

” The prayer of a person in his house is a single prayer; his prayer in the Masjid of his people has the reward of 27 prayers; his prayer in the Masjid in which the Friday prayer is observed has the reward of 500; his prayer in Masjid Al-Aqsa (i.e. Al-Aqsa Sanctuary) has a reward of 5,000 prayers; his prayer in my Masjid (the Prophet’s Masjid in Madinah) has a reward of 50,000 prayers, and the prayer in the Sacred Masjid (Ka’bah) has the reward of 100,000 prayers”.

(Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah)

6. It is the location that the Prophet was transported to during the miraculous Night Journey (Israa wa-Miraaj). Muslims believe Prophet Muhammad was transported from the sacred mosque in Mecca to the Masjid Al Aqsa during this miraculous night journey and then onto heaven.

“Glorified be He [Allah] Who did take His servant for a journey by night from Al Masjid Al Haram to Al Masjid Al Aqsa, whose precincts We did bless, in order that We might show him some of our Signs. Verily He is the All Hearing, All Seeing.” Surah Isra (17:1)

7. It was the location for the most extraordinary gathering in which the Prophet Muhammad led prayer in congregation with all previous prophets and then ascended to the heavens to receive Gods command to the Muslims to pray 5 times a day.

8. Muslims believe that the land of Jeruselem is the final resting place of many previous prophets and their companions including Prophet Ibrahim, Yaaqub and Ishaq and some close companions of the Prophet Muhammad Saw.

Steps to protect yourself from The Evil Eye

What is the evil eye?

The Arabic word al-‘ayn (translated as the evil eye) refers to when a person harms another with his eye. It starts when the person likes a thing, then his evil feelings affect it by means of his repeated looking at the object of his jealousy.

It’s not for nothing that  Allah taught His Prophet to seek refuge with Him from the evil of the envier in a surah you should use yourself for protection:

Wa min sharri haasidin idhaa hasad— And from the evil of the envier when he envies . . . [Quran.113:5]

Steps to protect yourself from The Evil Eye

1. Recite Duaa

“Oh Allah I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil He has created”.
(Sahih Muslim)

“I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from every devil, every poisonous reptile and every evil eye”.
(Sahih Bukhari)

2. Read the Quran

i. Surah Baqarah

The Prophet of Allah (pbuh) said: “Satan runs away from the house in which Surah Al-Baqara is recited.”

(Sahih Muslim)

ii. Surah Falaq and Naas

“The Messenger of Allah  used to seek refuge with Allah from the jinn and from the evil eye until the Mu’wadaitain (Surah Falaq and Surah Naas) were revealed, and whey they were revealed He started to recite them and not anything else.”

iii. Ayat Al Kursi

Abu Hurairah reported: [A thief who was trying to steal the sadaqah] said: “When you go to bed, recite Ayatul Kursi for then a guardian from Allah will be appointed to watch over you, and Shaytan cannot approach you till dawn.” When the Prophet  heard, he replied: “He told you the truth though he is a liar. He (the thief) was the Shaytan.”

(Sahih Bukhari)

Six Tips to Quit A Guilty Porn Addiction.

Six ways to finally quit porn for good

One of the major issues impacting today’s youth and many adults is addiction to pornography. What was once a hidden sin that required much effort to fall into has now become an epidemic following the onset of Mobile devices that are capable of streaming such content from the privacy of one’s palm.

We have compiled some tips to help those who are struggling with this problem finally say goodbye for good.

  • Lower your gaze

Prevention is better than treatment. Lower your gaze from the opposite gender, especially if they are attractive. This includes TV shows, movies and any imagery that is arousing.

Allah states in the Quran:

“Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their private parts; that will make for greater purity for them. Indeed Allah is well acquainted with all that they do.”

Quran 24:30

  • Avoid being alone

Always try to keep yourself busy in communal activities. Attend the Mosque, social gatherings and family outings to avoid being alone and inhibit evil thoughts. Pick up a new hobby to keep you pre-occupied if it helps.

  • Limit Access to Internet

Ensure that household computers are in public rooms and remove all mobile devices from your bedroom at night. Only use the Internet when necessary and avoid browsing aimlessly online.

  • Fast more often

The Prophet taught us that fasting is a “shield”, particularly for the one who cannot marry. It will not only inhibit one’s sexual desire but also earn many good rewards.

  • Get married young

The Prophet advised the youth that whoso can afford to get married should do it. Marriage provides the ultimate protection from evil desire and is a noble Sunnah to protect one’s chastity.

The Prophet Muhammad says in the authentic narration:

“Oh young men, whoever among you can afford to get married, let him do so, and whoever cannot afford, let him fast, for that will be a shield for him”.

(Bukhari and Muslim)

  • Seek Allah’s help

If you are truly sincere in your intention to give up this bad habit, seek Allah’s help and He will assist you out of this.

“And whoso relies upon Allah, He will suffice him”.

Quran 65:3

Muslims refuse to pray at Al Aqsa after new degrading restrictions.

Israeli security forces have recently introduced new security restrictions on Masjid Al Aqsa. These new stringent measures include barricades and metal detectors that all worshipers must pass through prior to entering the Masjid.

In protest to the new sanctions, the Muslim Community of Jerusalem and local worshippers have refused to pray in the Mosque. Director of Masjid Al Aqsa, Omar Al Kiswani states that such restrictions are nothing more than an exploitation of the Muslims and attempts to further inhibit worshippers from attending the Masjid.

“We will not enter (the Masjid), as those responsible, we will not enter. And neither will we surrender Masjid Al Aqsa in the face of this exploitation”, he said in an interview to Arabia TV.

The new measures come two days after the Israeli forces had closed down Masjid Al Aqsa, completely blocking out all worshippers from attending. This was the first time in 48 years that the Masjid had been closed down in such a manner, whereby Friday Prayers, congregational prayers and the call to the prayer were all restricted.

Masjid Al Aqsa is the third holiest Mosque in Islam and it is incumbent Muslims do what they can to ensure the safety and security of this Holy precinct.

The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is narrated to have said:

“A mount is not saddled (for a journey) except to three Masajid: Al-Masjid Al-Haram, this Masjid of mine, and Masjid Al-Aqsa.”

(Tirmidhi) Sahih.
